As with the Dreadnought Gundam I will be doing a five article series for the 1/100 scale Master Grade GAT-X105 Strike Gundam with I.W.S.P. pack from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Mobile Suit Variations. In this article I will be covering the various parts and frames, as well as a little bit of history on the unit itself. First, we will cover the background of both the GAT-X105 Strike and the P202QX I.W.S.P (Intergrated Weapons Striker Pack). The Gat-X105 Strike was built as part of a five suit developments series produced by Morgenroete Incorporated for the Earth Alliances’ Atlantic Federation as a countermeasure to Z.A.F.T’s (Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty) ZGMF-1017 GINN. Before the Strike could officially be deployed, Z.A.F.T attacked the Orb Union space colony, Heliopolis, where the unit and the four other members of its development series were being developed and tested. The four other machines were stolen, leaving only the Strike in the Alliance’s hands. The main armaments of the Strike are rather limited, having only the anti-air vulcan system, Igelstellung, and a pair of “Armour Schneider” combat knives. This weakness is compensated by the use of Striker packs, which are designed with tactical flexibility in mind. The P202QX I.W.S.P was originally designed to be carried by the MBF-02 Strike Rouge, but the fire control system was deemed too complicated for battlefield use and was thus mothballed. After the Bloody Valentine War, Actaeon Industries acquired the I.W.S.P system for use with a newly built Strike with a modified OS (Operating System) that could handle the fire control system. After this initial testing phase, the pack was adapted for use with the GAT-01A2R Slaughter Dagger. The armaments for the I.W.S.P include two 115mm railguns, two 105mm cannons, and two 9.1m anti-ship swords. Like before, we will start with the A frame, which is one of two multi-colour frames in this kit. First, we have the section that has been primed black; these parts would normally be blue. This area of the frame has the chest and back armour, tops of the shoulders, the primary booster, the top of the cockpit hatch, and the top of the groin armour. Next we have the yellow parts which comprise the middle of the antennae and parts of the shield These shield parts are not entirely necessary for this kit due to the I.W.S.P. The A frame also includes several clear parts making up the internals of the head and the targeter for the beam rifle. Lastly, we have the white components which comprise the head, hip armour, backs of the hands, face, main antennai, the main part of the shield as well as the cross piece for the front of the shield. The A frame also includes two in scale pilot figures, one seated and the other standing. The B frame contains the majority of the red parts. This includes the beard for the head, the waist armour, cockpit hatch, parts of the feet, and the front of the shield. This frame makes up pretty much all the red parts of the kit Next we have the C frame, of which there are two. The C frame contains the remaining pieces of hip armour which is used to hold the pair of combat knives that make up half of the suits in built weapons. The remainder of the frame contains the armour for both the arms and legs, as well as the blade for the combat knives. Like with the C frame, the D frame is also a double, containing portions of the inner frame for the arms, legs, and feet. The included parts are the thighs, knees, ankles, and the undersides of the feet for the legs. The elbows and shoulders are also included on this pair of frames. The final double frame is the E frame, containing the remaining parts of the legs and wrists, as well as parts of the knees. The E frame also contains the inner parts of the shoulder armour. On the F frame we have a lot of the inner frame parts for the torso, waist, shoulder mounts, and hands. This frame also includes the parts for the Strike’s beam rifle and mountings for the shield. We now return to a multi-colour frame in the L frame. The L frame includes many of the white components for the I.W.S.P pack as well as the grip for the beam boomerang and the main portion of the combined shield. The black components make up the boosters, cowling, and the parts for mounting the pack to the kit. The blade for the beam boomerang can also be found on this frame molded in a translucent red-ish pink. Finally the red parts make up the front of the combined shield and parts of the 9.1m anti ship swords and vents for the under wing boosters of the I.W.S.P itself. The M frame is made up entirely of parts for the I.W.S.P pack. The parts on the M frame include the main body of the I.W.S.P as well as the 115mm railguns and the 105mm cannons. The bodies of the under-wing boosters can also be found on this frame. With the N frame, we are finally getting near to the end. The N frame contains most of the parts for the combined shield in the form of the 30mm 6-barrel gatling machine gun and the handles and grips for the shield. The parts for the XM404 “Grand Slam” anti-ship sword can also be found on the N frame along with the jets for the under-wing boosters. The contents of the O frame are the main wings for the I.W.S.P and the secondary wings that attach to the back mounting for the kit. The O frame contains the sheaths for the 9.1m anti-ship swords. The P frame is another basic frame containing only sword blades for the 9.1m anti-ship swords and the XM404 “Grand Slam” anti-ship sword.Lastly, the BA2 frame contains the parts for the included display stand. This is a very important part of the kit as the I.W.S.P pack makes the kit very back heavy to the point that it cannot stand on it’s own with the pack attached.
I would like to thank Nicholas from DuelMaster NG for the pictures of the parts frames.
